This season designers took their own approach on spring style. There were no two models alike on the runway, electric tie dyes were shown one day and countryside pastels were donned the next. It seems that designers were allowing the consumer to decide which route to go this spring.

“I plan to stick to my simple style this season while still incorporating the new trends into my look,” said junior Karen Perez.

Most high school students may think that designer trends are not attainable while on a budget or that the looks in the magazines are too bold, but there are certainly ways to find affordable and toned downed pieces to add to your wardrobe this spring. Some local stores to find these pieces include Forever 21, GAP, and even Target. This month Target has a limited edition collection by Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Electric Lime. Hot Pink. Neon Orange. Blazing Blue. All of these were included in many of the designers color palettes this spring. Proenza Schouler based their entire collection on neon colors, and one way to add these colors into your spring wardrobe is in your nail polish. Another beauty trend involving these colors were orange lips. It may sound a bit edgy but ELLE magazine recommends that you try it. While some chose Vibrant colors as their take on spring style, others went for pastels.

“Floral patterns are definitely in for spring, along with bright colors,” said senior Christa Arranda.

Karl Lagerfeld stepped out of the Chanel box and elaborated on his barnyard inspirations. The line consisted of very feminine colors and floral details. To get the desirable Chanel look this spring Teen Vogue suggests you try pastel colors and a floral touch here and there, whether it be in your hair or even a pin on your jacket.

Ladies aren’t the only ones who need to keep up with spring trends, men’s fashion week was filled with new looks for the guys to try out this season as well.

“I usually like causal looks that include v-necks.” said junior Alberto Escobar “I also really like designers like Alexander McQueen.”

Missoni and Marc Jacobs were amongst some of GQ magazines favorites this spring. Both designers displayed laid back and classic looks that still appealed to the modern high school male. Most of the looks included an updated take on jeans and a blazer. According t to the magazine there is no need to buy new jeans but try wearing a button down shirt or even a v-neck paired with a blazer to update your look. GQ urges the reader to be fearless when it comes to men’s fashion and to try casual, yet classic looks.

Now, it’s up to the consumer to decide which trends to follow this season.
