Spring Break is around the corner and FCCLA is promoting safe driving.

“Our FCCLA members want to remind fellow students to drive safe during spring break when many accidents occur,” said Mrs. Brisnahan, FCCLA adviser.

FCCLA members are helping to stop impaired driving and traffic crashes to lower the number one cause of death for youth in America through their involvement in the FACTS (Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety) Program. FCCLA joined TXDOT in their Click it or Ticket campaign to encourage everyone to use their seatbelts.

All week FCCLA made public service announcements over the intercom on driving safety facts and statistics. They informed the students about the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt. They put up posters around the school halls and placed a banner in the pavilion. They posted street signs along Shary Road and handed out Whataburger coupons to people wearing their seatbelts after school.

FCCLA also is promoting the web site www.seatbeltsrock.com. In this website, students can take a quiz to test their seatbelt safety knowledge.

“Seatbelts protects us and the people around us,” said junior Karen Perez. “Everyone should wear it at all times.”
